Indians in Qatar will be able to scan a QR code and make payments via UPI as NPCI International Payments (NIPL) has signed an agreement with QNB, the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, headquartered in Qatar. UPI acceptance in Qatar will offer substantial benefits to the large number of Indians visiting the country and simplifying their transactions," said Anubhav Sharma, deputy chief of partnerships and business development at NPCI International.

         This initiative will benefit Indian travellers visiting and transiting through the country, according to NIPL.

Vienna, known as one of the world’s most beautiful cities to visit, has once again clinched the title of the most liveable city in the world. According to the latest annual report from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released today, the Austrian capital has secured the top spot for the third consecutive year.

          Vienna achieved perfect scores in four out of five categories, with its only slight deduction attributed to a perceived lack of major sporting events.

          The EIU, an affiliate of The Economist, evaluated 173 cities globally across several key factors including healthcare, culture and environment, stability, infrastructure, and education.

PM Hasina’s Delhi Visit Energizes Bangladesh-India Relations.

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was in India just a fortnight ago to attend the swearing-in of the Narendra Modi government, was back in New Delhi on June 21-22 on a bilateral state visit, which was the first by a foreign leader after the inauguration of Modi’s third term as prime minister. The most notable outcome of the visit was a rail connectivity agreement between the two countries that will allow India to use Bangladesh’s rail network to transport goods to its northeast.           In a testament to the comprehensive and people-centric nature of India-Sri Lanka development cooperation, President Wickremesinghe and EAM jointly handed over 48 houses under Model Village Housing Project in Colombo and Trincomalee districts.

It is a day when wind energy is celebrated, information is exchanged and adults and children find out about wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to change the world. In association with EWEA and GWEC, national wind energy associations and companies involved in wind energy production organise events in many countries around the world. In 2011, there were events organised in 30 countries, on 4 continents. Events included visits to onshore and offshore wind farms, information campaigns, demonstration turbines being set up in cities, wind workshops and a wind parade. Many events happened on Global Wind Day (15 June) itself, but there were also events on the days and weeks before and afterwards.

India, Iran to sign 10-year agreement for operations at Chabahar port.

The long-term agreement was being negotiated by the two sides over the past three years or so and had been primarily held up by differences on a clause related to arbitration.Ports and shipping minister Sarbananda Sonowal left for Iran on Monday for the signing of a crucial long-term agreement for India’s operations at the strategic Chabahar port, people familiar with the matter said.It will replace an initial pact inked in 2016 that covered India’s operations at Shahid Beheshti terminal of Chabahar port and has been renewed on an annual basis. Sonowal flew from New Delhi to Tehran on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) flight and people familiar with the matter on both sides said his visit was linked to the signing of the 10-year agreement for operations by state-run India Global Ports Limited (IGPL) Shahid Beheshti terminal.

         Renewal: Initial pact signed in 2016 renewed annually, now replaced by a 10-year agreement.

          Strategic: Agreement for India's operations at Chabahar port, crucial for regional connectivity.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), Girish Chandra Murmu has signed a MoU with Toyam Raya, Auditor General of Nepal to enhance cooperation between the two institutions. Girish Chandra Murmu, who is on an official visit to Nepal, signed the MoU in Kathmandu, Nepal, in the presence of dignitaries from both countries. The MoU aim to enhance collaboration between the two Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and the exchange of expertise in the field of auditing. This MoU will establish a platform between the two countries for developing and strengthening professional capacity, exchanging knowledge in the field of public sector audit, and mutually assisting in conducting audits.

         CAG is the supreme auditing institution in India while in Nepal Auditor General of Nepal is the supreme auditing institution.

Indian Navy’s indigenous, INS Sahyadri participated in Maritime Partnership Exercise with Royal Navy’s RFA Argus and RFA Lyme Bay, part of the UK Littoral Response Group South at Sea. The exercise provided an opportunity for both navies to exchange best practices. This exercise demonstrates the Indian Navy’s commitment in strengthening maritime partnerships and promotes regional stability. The joint exercise, conducted with precision and proficiency, showcased the seamless coordination and interoperability between the naval forces of India and the United Kingdom. Exercise Highlights include Tactical manoeuvres, Boarding operations, Surface engagement against simulated asymmetric threats, Cross-deck visits, and Cross-deck helicopter operations.

         INS Sahyadri is a Shivalik-class stealth multi-role frigate built for the Indian Navy.

The Union finance ministry notified amendments to the Foreign Exchange Management (Non-debt Instruments) Rules, 2019 to operationalise the new foreign direct investment (FDI) limits for satellite-related activities.

The Union finance ministry notified amendments to the Foreign Exchange Management (Non-debt Instruments) Rules, 2019 to operationalise the new foreign direct investment (FDI) limits for satellite-related activities. The notification follows a nod from the Union Cabinet on February 21 that approved changes to FDI policy for space sector, allowing up to 100 percent foreign investment under the automatic route for certain activities. These include manufacturing of components and systems and sub-systems for satellites. The notification that will come into effect from 16 April 2024 has been issued just a few days away from the SpaceX CEO Musk's likely meeting with India's burgeoning space tech startups during his first-ever visit to the country on April 22. Up to 100 percent FDI is now allowed under the automatic route for manufacturing of components and systems or sub-systems for satellites, ground segment and user segment, Up to 74 percent FDI is now permitted under the automatic route for satellite manufacturing and operation, satellite data products and Ground Segment and User Segment. Up to 49 percent will be permitted under the automatic route for launch vehicles and associated systems or sub-systems and creation of spaceports for launching and receiving spacecraft.

The ship was involved in the safe release of all 19 crew members (11 Iranian and 08 Pakistani) of Iranian fishing vessel Omari which was held hostage by pirates off East coast of Somalia. The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has delivered two Dornier 228 planes to the Guyana Defence Force. The planes arrived at Cheddi Jagan International Airport aboard two Boeing C-17 Globemaster military transport planes. The development comes more than a year after the Guyanese president and his delegation had visited an HAL facility in India.
