Defence ministry notifies fifth indigenisation list of 346 items for DPSUs.

With the aim of boosting Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence production and minimising imports by defence public sector undertakings (DPSUs), the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has notified a fifth positive indigenisation list (PIL) comprising 346 defence items. The MoD has ordered that “these items will only be procured from the Indian industry after the timelines of indigenisation as indicated in the list available on the MoD’s Srijan portal.

         This initiative is expected to boost domestic defence production capabilities, reduce import bills, and strengthen India's defence industry ecosystem.

          The Ministry may periodically update the list to include more items as part of ongoing efforts towards self-reliance in defence production.

Indian Air Force Hosts Exercise Pitch Black 2024 in Darwin, Australia.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent landed at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Darwin, Australia for participating in Exercise Pitch Black 2024. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 12 July 24 to 02 August 24, and is a biennial, multi- national exercise hosted by the RAAF. The name 'Pitch Black' was derived from the emphasis on night time flying over large un-populated areas. This edition is slated to be the largest in the 43 year long history of Ex Pitch Black, which includes participation by 20 countries, with over 140 aircraft and 4400 military personnel of various air forces.

Defence production hits record high of nearly ₹1.27 lakh crore in 2023-24.

India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise Begins In Meghalaya.

The 16th edition of India-Mongolia joint military exercise, Nomadic Elephant, commenced at Foreign Training Node, Umroi, near here on Wednesday. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted on July 16, reports Manosh Das. The Indian contingent comprising 45 personnel is being represented by a battalion of Sikkim Scouts along with personnel from other arms and services.

The Indian Army contingent departed yesterday for the 13th edition of India- Thailand joint military Exercise MAITREE. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 1st to 15th July 2024 at Fort Vachiraprakan in Tak Province of Thailand. Last edition of the same exercise was conducted at Umroi, Meghalaya in September 2019.
