IAF aircraft leave for Exercise Eastern Bridge VII in Oman.

An IAF contingent of MiG-29s, Jaguars, and C-17s is set to participate in Exercise Eastern Bridge VII, held from September 11 to 22, 2024, at Air Force base Masirah, Oman. Indian Air Force Hosts Exercise Pitch Black 2024 in Darwin, Australia.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent landed at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Darwin, Australia for participating in Exercise Pitch Black 2024. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 12 July 24 to 02 August 24, and is a biennial, multi- national exercise hosted by the RAAF. The name 'Pitch Black' was derived from the emphasis on night time flying over large un-populated areas. This edition is slated to be the largest in the 43 year long history of Ex Pitch Black, which includes participation by 20 countries, with over 140 aircraft and 4400 military personnel of various air forces.

         IAF aims to enhance interoperability with RAAF and other international air forces during the exercise.

The Indian Army contingent departed yesterday for the 13th edition of India- Thailand joint military Exercise MAITREE. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 1st to 15th July 2024 at Fort Vachiraprakan in Tak Province of Thailand. Last edition of the same exercise was conducted at Umroi, Meghalaya in September 2019.

India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise Begins In Meghalaya.

The 16th edition of India-Mongolia joint military exercise, Nomadic Elephant, commenced at Foreign Training Node, Umroi, near here on Wednesday. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted on July 16, reports Manosh Das. The Indian contingent comprising 45 personnel is being represented by a battalion of Sikkim Scouts along with personnel from other arms and services.

JIMEX 24, 8th Japan-India Maritime Exercise Commenced in Japan.

Japan-India maritime exercise (JIMEX 24) commenced at Yokosuka in Japan. According to the Indian Navy, during the exercise, navies of both the countries will jointly hone their war fighting skills at sea and enhance their interoperability. Indian Navy’s indigenous Stealth Frigate INS Shivalik is participating in the bilateral maritime exercise. While, Japan is being represented by the Guided Missile Destroyer JS Yugiri. Indian Navy said that JIMEX 24 provides an opportunity to learn from each other’s best practices and facilitates operational interactions between India and Japan.

         The exercise also reaffirms their shared commitment towards maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Supreme Court Re-Constitutes Gender Sensitisation And Internal Complaints Committee and appoints Justice Hima Kohli as Chairperson.

Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud, in exercise of powers conferred by Regulation 4(2) of the Gender Sensitisation & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Regulations, 2013 and all other enabling provisions in this behalf, re-constituted the Supreme Court Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee on 31-05-2024.

         Justice Hima Kohli has been nominated as the Chairperson for the Committee. She also headed the Committee in 2022 and 2023. Justice BV Nagarathna is a member of the Committee.

          Additional Registrar Sukhda Pritam has been nominated as the Member Secretary.

India joins U.S.’s Red Flag air and RIMPAC naval exercises.

Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy are taking part in two mega multinational war games hosted by their U.S. counterparts. The IAF has deployed Rafale fighter jets for the two-week multinational air exercise Red Flag which commenced in Alaska on May 30. On the other hand, the Indian Navy is deploying the indigenous stealth frigate INS Shivalik for Ex RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) scheduled to be held in Hawaii from June 25 to August 2.

         These multinational exercises are expected to. offer realistic training in a simulated combat environment

          Onwards and Upwards. An IAF contingent arrived today at the Eielson AF Base of US airforce, at Alaska, US, to participate in the upcoming edition of the multi-national exercise Red Flag 24.

Dipa Karmakar Becomes First Indian Gymnast To Win Gold In Asian Senior Championships.

Leading gymnast Dipa Karmakar made history on Sunday by becoming the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Asian Senior Championships, clinching the title in the women’s vault. Competing in Uzbekistan’s capital, the 30-year-old Dipa achieved an average score of 13.566 in the vault final on the competition’s last day. North Korean gymnasts Kim Son Hyang and Jo Kyong Byol secured the silver and bronze medals with scores of 13.466 and 12.966, respectively. Dipa, who narrowly missed a medal with a fourth-place finish in the vault final at the 2016 Rio Olympics, had previously won a bronze medal in the same event at the 2015 Asian Championships. Ashish Kumar had also won a bronze medal in the individual floor exercise at the 2015 Asian Championships.

NSG & elite US SOF troops conduct 7TH joint counter-terror drill 'TARKASH' in Kolkata.

National Security Guard (NSG) is conducting joint counter-terror mock drills with the US Special Operations Forces (SOF) at multiple locations in Kolkata, to enhance interoperability and coordination between the two special forces. The seventh edition of the annual Indo-US joint counter-terrorism exercise 'Tarkash' commenced on April 22 at the Kolkata hub of NSG and shall culminate on May 15. The three-week exercise encompassed intense training and mock drills in urban counter terrorism scenarios.The primary objective of the Indo-US exercise 'Tarkash' is to build functional relation and enhance interoperability between their special forces in conducting coordinated counter-terror operations, particularly in urban counter-terrorism contingencies, an NSG spokesperson told TOI on Tuesday. It is also aimed at improving bilateral cooperation between India and US in matters relating to combating terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations.The previous edition of Tarkash - considered crucial in terms of security challenges being faced by both countries in the current global scenario - was conducted at Chennai in Jan 2023.

7th INDIA- FRANCE JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE SHAKTI COMMENCES IN MEGHALAYA.

The 7th edition of India- France Joint Military Exercise SHAKTI commenced today, at Umroi, in a fully developed and modern Foreign Training Node in Meghalaya. The Exercise is scheduled to be conducted from 13th to 26th May 2024. The Opening Ceremony of the joint exercise was attended by H.E. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India and Major General Prasanna Sudhakar Joshi, General Officer Commanding 51 Sub Area. Exercise SHAKTI is a biennial training event conducted alternatively in India and France. Last edition was conducted in France in November 2021. Indian contingent comprising 90 personnel is being represented primarily by a Battalion of the RAJPUT Regiment besides personnel from other arms and services. Observers from the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force will also form part of the exercise. The French contingent comprising 90 personnel will be represented mainly by personnel from the 13th Foreign Legion Half- Brigade (13th DBLE). Aim of Exercise SHAKTI is to enhance joint military capability of both sides to undertake multi-domain operations in a Sub Conventional scenario under Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate.

Indian Navy conducted Exercise 'Poorvi Lehar' (XPOL) on East Coast under the Operational Control of The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. The exercise aimed at validation of procedures towards assessment of Indian Navy’s preparedness to meet Maritime Security challenges in the region. The exercise witnessed participation of Ships, Submarines, Aircrafts and Special Forces. XPOL was conducted in multiple phases including combat training in a realistic scenario during the Tactical Phase and successful conduct of various firings during the Weapon Phase towards reaffirming Indian Navy’s capability to deliver ordnance on target. In addition to the participation of assets from Eastern Naval Command, the exercise also witnessed participation of assets from IAF, Andaman & Nicobar Command and Coast Guard indicating a very high degree of interoperability amongst the Services.

5th edition of India-Uzbekistan joint military Exercise 'DUSTLIK-2024' is being conducted from 15th to 28th April 2024 in Termez District, Uzbekistan. Exercise DUSTLIK is a yearly event conducted alternatively in India and Uzbekistan. Last edition was conducted at Pithoragarh (India) in February 2023. The Indian Armed Forces contingent comprising 60 personnel is being represented by 45 personnel from the Indian Army, majorly from a Battalion of the JAT Regiment, and 15 personnel from the Indian Air Force. The Uzbekistan contingent comprising approximately 100 personnel, from Uzbekistan Army and Air Force, will be represented by personnel from Southern Operational Command, part of South-West Military District. Trishakti Corps, Indian Army, conducted a training exercise on Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) firing at a Super High-Altitude Area of 17,000 Feet in Sikkim. Missile Firing Detachments from Mechanized and Infantry Units of the entire Eastern Command participated in the training exercise. The training exercise encompassed comprehensive continuity training and live firing from different platforms on moving as well as static targets, depicting battlefield conditions. The ATGM Detachments demonstrated the capability to neutralize armored threats with unparalleled lethality, ensuring mission success in treacherous mountains. The ATGM system’s performance in high-altitude environments reaffirms the aim of “Ek Missile Ek Tank” and showcased the accuracy and effectiveness of the ATGM system in Super High-Altitude terrain.

A two-day Coastal Security Exercise 'Sagar Kavach 01/24' involving all maritime security agencies was conducted in UT of Lakshadweep from 1 to 2 April 2024.

A two-day Coastal Security Exercise 'Sagar Kavach 01/24' involving all maritime security agencies was conducted in UT of Lakshadweep from 1 to 2 April 2024. Assets of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Marine Police, Fisheries, Customs and other security agencies were engaged in the exercise. Validation of effectiveness of Coastal Security mechanism while dealing with asymmetric threat emanating from the sea were undertaken. The exercise witnessed enhanced preparedness, response mechanism, surveillance capabilities coordination between the coastal security stake holders.
