CIL and GAIL Sign Joint Venture to Establish Coal-to-SNG Plant in West Bengal.

Coal India Limited (CIL) and GAIL (India) Limited have entered into a joint venture agreement to set up a coal-to-SNG (Synthetic Natural Gas) plant in West Bengal. This initiative aims to leverage coal resources to produce clean energy and reduce reliance on imported natural gas. The proposed plant will enhance energy security and support the region's economic development. Both companies will collaborate on the project's development, implementation, and operation, marking a significant step in India's efforts to diversify its energy sources and promote sustainable energy solutions.

         The joint venture will invest significantly in technology for efficient coal-to-SNG conversion and reduce emissions.

India celebrates National Doctors' Day on July 1st every year to honour the legacy of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician, freedom fighter, and former Chief Minister of West Bengal. Recognising Dr. Roy's dedication and immense contributions to medicine, the Indian government officially designated July 1st as National Doctors' Day in 1991.

GST rate rationalisation panel reconstituted with Bihar Deputy CM Chaudhary as convenor.

The GST Council on Friday made public that Group of Ministers to give recommendation on rate rationalisation has been reconstituted with Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary as new convenor. Chaudhary will replace Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh Suresh Khanna. The office memorandum, dated February 27 but posted the Council website now, says other members of the reconstituted panel are Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Rajasthan Medical, and Health Services Minister Gajendra Singh. It also includes West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, and Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal.

         Chaudhary will replace Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh Suresh Khanna.

          Out of seven members GoM, four are from NDA and three from opposition-ruled States.

West Bengal Government Launched first-of-its-kind Centralized Admission for Undergraduate College Admission.

The West Bengal government on Wednesday launched a ‘centralized admission portal’ for admission to undergraduate courses in state government colleges and universities. State education minister Bratya Basu unveiled the admission portal at the Bikash Bhavan in Kolkata. The portal has been developed for admission to 7,217 undergraduate courses in government and government-aided general degree colleges/ universities (16 universities, 461 colleges and a few other higher education institutions across West Bengal.

         Through this portal, a candidate will be able to search for courses, colleges, and universities across the state and access all relevant details such as course-wise eligibility criteria, number of vacancies, formula for merit-index calculation, elective subjects offered by any college or higher education institution and other information.

Mumbai City FC defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giant with a score of 3-1 at 10th edition of the Indian Super League 2023-24 final in Kolkata.

Mumbai City FC defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giant with a score of 3-1 at 10th edition of the Indian Super League 2023-24 final in Kolkata. 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) final, was played at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata (West Bengal). This was Mumbai City FC's second title. In the final match, Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Bipin Singh and Jakub Vojtus scored for Mumbai City FC, while the solitary goal for the Mohun Bagan Bagan Super Giant was scored by Jason Cumming. The winner of the ISL 2023-24 Mumbai City FC took Rs6 crore as the prize money, and the runners-up, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, got Rs3 crore as prize money. The prizes to the winning team and the players were given by the All India Football Federation President, Kalyan Chaubey.
