Punjab National Bank signs pact with SAIL to offer loans.

State-owned Punjab National Bank has signed a pact with Steel Authority of India to provide home loan, car loan and education loan to the latter's employees at concessional rates. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the financial well-being of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) employees while expanding PNB's customer base within the steel sector, Punjab National Bank (PNB) said in a statement on Thursday.

         The MoU was signed in the presence of PNB Executive Director Bibhu Prasad Mahapatra.

          Under the agreement, PNB will provide various types of loans to SAIL, which could include working capital loans, term loans, or other financial products.

RBI fines five banks including PNB for regulatory non-compliance.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed penalties on five banks, including Punjab National Bank (PNB), for non-compliance with regulatory requirements. The penalties were levied as part of RBI's ongoing efforts to ensure adherence to banking regulations and maintain financial stability. This action underscores the importance of banks adhering to regulatory guidelines to safeguard the interests of depositors and maintain the integrity of the banking system.

         The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated July 03, 2024, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1,31,80,000 on Punjab National Bank (the bank) for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI.

Punjab & Sind Bank signs pact with Indian Army for salary account.

State-owned Punjab & Sind Bank has signed an initial agreement with the Indian Army on defence salary package which will come with a host of facilities, including free insurance cover. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to this effect. Besides many features, the MoU provides the serving personnel, veterans and trainees with personal accident insurance (Death/Disability) cover up to Rs 1 crore and an air accidental cover of Rs 1.2 crore.

         PSB Gaurav Bachat SB Salary account is exclusively designed to cater to the distinct banking requirement of serving and retired personnels.

          The product is also strategically aimed to tap Agniveers enrolled in the Agnipath scheme, ensuring a comprehensive financial solution that aligns with distinctive needs of the segment.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) & India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd ( IIFCL) SIGN MOU FOR FINANCING INFRA PROJECTS.

Punjab National Bank (PNB), a public sector bank, and India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL), a state-owned entity, on June 3, 2024, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide long-term financial support for viable infrastructure projects. Under this agreement, both institutions will collaborate to fund infrastructure projects, participating together under consortium or multiple lending arrangements. They will provide financial support to prospective borrowers following due diligence on a case-by-case basis.

         The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Atul Kumar Goel, MD and CEO of PNB, and Padmanabhan Raja Jaishankar, MD of IIFCL. This partnership is anticipated to open new lending avenues for the country’s infrastructure projects.

Padma awardee Punjabi poet Patar passes away in Ludhiana at 79 .

Eminent poet and Padma Shri awardee Dr Surjit Patar passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning at his residence near Barewal Colony here. He was 79. Patar's poetic works include 'Hawa Vich Likhe Harf', 'Hanere Vich Sulagdi Varanmala', 'Patjhar Di Pazeb', 'Lafzaan Di Dargah' and 'Surzameen'. He received the Padma Shri in the field of literature and education in 2012. Patar was the president of the Punjab Arts Council. He had also been the president of the Punjabi Sahit Akademi. The poet and writer has been awarded with the Sahitya Akademi Award, Panchnad Puruskar, Saraswati Samman and the Kusumagraj Literary award. From Patar village in Jalandhar district, he did his graduation from Randhir college in Kapurthala and Ph D on 'Transformation of Folklore in Guru Nanak Vani' from the Guru Nanak Dev University. He retired as a professor of Punjabi from the Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana.

         Dr. Surjit Patar, a renowned poet and recipient of the Padma Shri award, passed away peacefully at the age of 79.

          Patar's notable poetic works include 'Hawa Vich Likhe Harf', 'Hanere Vich Sulagdi Varanmala', and 'Patjhar Di Pazeb'.

          He was honored with prestigious literary awards such as the Sahitya Akademi Award, Panchnad Puruskar, and Saraswati Samman for his contributions to Punjabi literature.

Indian Army's Kharga Corps, under the aegis of Army's Western Command, successfully conducted a three-day joint exercise 'Gagan Strike-II' with the IAF at multiple locations in Punjab. The exercise was conducted to refine processes and validate employment of attack helicopters in support of mechanised operations in developed terrain. The exercise incorporated Apache and ALH-WSI helicopters, Unarmed Aerial Vehicles and special forces of Indian Army, was aimed at validating various force multipliers in support of ground offensive by strike corps along with live firing by helicopters as demanded by mechanised forces during offensive maneuvers.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) launched the 'Integrated Pensioners’ Portal of the Bank of India' to digitalise pension services and enhance the welfare of pensioners.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) launched the 'Integrated Pensioners’ Portal of the Bank of India' to digitalise pension services and enhance the welfare of pensioners. The move consolidates the pension processing and payment services of five banks into a single window for their services. Digital empowerment of pensioners is being implemented through various means such as Digital Life Certificates and Bhavishya Portal to enhance the welfare of pensioners. With the integration of pension portals from banks like SBI, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, and Canara Bank into the Bhavishya portal, pensioners now have access to a range of services from a single window. This integration enables pensioners to access services such as pension slips, life certificate submission status, due and drawn statements, and Form-16 seamlessly.

         The Bhavishya platform, an integrated online pension processing system, ensures end-to-end digitisation of pension processing and payment, from online filing to electronic issuance of the PPO.

13th April 2024 marks the 105th Anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (also known as the Amritsar Massacre).

13th April 2024 marks the 105th Anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (also known as the Amritsar Massacre), held on 13 April 1919 in Amritsar, Punjab, British India (now in Punjab). On 13 April 1919, people gathered at Jallianwala Bagh (Amritsar) to protest against the arrest of the two nationalist leaders, Satya Pal and Dr Saifuddin Kitchlew. Suddenly, a British military officer, General Dyer, entered the park with his troops. Without even giving a warning to the people to disperse, he ordered his troops to fire at the unarmed crowd for ten minutes and when their ammunition was exhausted, they left. In those ten minutes, according to the estimates of the congress, about a thousand persons were killed and about 2000 wounded. The bullet marks can be still seen on the walls of the Jallianwala Bagh which is now a national memorial.

NCDFI has also elected 8 directors on its board unopposed. 8 directors on the Board unopposed which include, Dr Meenesh Shah, Jharkhand Milk Federation; Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Sikkim Milk Union; Shamalbhai B. Patel, Gujarat Milk Federation; Randhir Singh, Haryana Milk Federation; K. S Mani, KeralaMilk Federation; Balachandra L. Jarakiholi, Karnataka Milk Federation; Narinder Singh Shergill, Punjab Milk Federation and Sameer Kumar Parida, West Assam Milk Union. Apart from these elected directors, Shri S. Regupathi, Executive Director, NDDB is the nominated director on the Board of NCDFI. Dr. Meenesh Shah has long been acknowledged for his pivotal role and substantial contributions to the dairy cooperative sector, fostering growth and sustainability over the years.
