Union Environment Minister has added 3 more wetlands to the list of Ramsar sites on the eve of India's Independence Day 2024.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav said on the eve of Independence Day 2024 that India has increased its tally of Ramsar sites (Wetlands of International Importance) to 85 from existing 82 by designating three more wetlands as Ramsar Sites. In a post on X, Shri Yadav expressed happiness on addition of three Ramsar sites on the eve of Independence Day. Union Minister congratulated the states of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh whose wetlands have been added to the Ramsar sites.

         These new designated sites are a testament to the significant policy push from the Ministry for wetlands conservation and management in the country.

          The country has added 59 new wetlands to the list of Ramsar sites during 2014-2024

MP, Rajasthan, and GoI Sign MoU on Modified PKC-ERCP Link Project.

It is another feather in the cap for Government of India in water management sector in the country, especially for the interlinking of rivers (ILR) program and also a momentous occasion for the people of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh (MP), as an MoU was signed by both these states with Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS), Govt. of India (GoI) today at New Delhi for implementation of the “Modified PKC-ERCP” (integration of original PKC with Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project of Rajasthan), which is the second project under the national perspective plan of interlinking of rivers (ILR) program of Government of India.

Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Inaugurates PM Shri Tourism Air Service From Bhopal.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP government led by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has completed 180 days of its tenure. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the PM Shri Tourism Air Service from Bhopal today. Akashvani correspondent reports, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav today inaugurated the PM Shri Tourism Air Service at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal by flagging off the aircraft. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the launching of air service will make it easier for any common man to travel.

         Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated the ticket booking counter of the new service and also provided boarding passes to the passengers.

          Under PM Shri Tourism Air Service, eight cities of the state, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa, Ujjain, Gwalior, Singrauli and Khajuraho are being connected through air service.

GAIL inaugurates 10 MW green Hydrogen Plant in Madhya Pradesh.

State-owned GAIL (India) Ltd's maiden green hydrogen plant at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh has been commissioned, making a major step for the nation's largest natural gas transmission and distribution firm's foray into new and alternate energy, the company said. The 10-megawatt proton exchange membrane electrolyser for the green-hydrogen producing unit at the Vijaipur complex has been imported from Canada.

         The plant will produce about 4.3 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, with a purity of about 99.999 per cent by volume. It uses electricity produced from renewable sources such as the sun's solar energy, to split water to produce green hydrogen.

          In a statement, GAIL said the plant was in line with the National Green Hydrogen mission that has set out a goal of 5 million tons of annual green hydrogen production capacity for the country by 2030.

UNICEF India appointed Bollywood Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan as its new National Ambassador. She has been associated with Unicef India since 2014, will support the not-for-profit organisation in furthering every child's right to early childhood development, health, education and gender equality. Kareena had earlier served as a Celebrity Advocate for UNICEF India. Besides Kareena, Unicef India has also appointed its first-ever Youth Advocates, who are peer leaders and champions on issues like climate action, mental health, innovations and Girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The four advocates are Gauranshi Sharma from Madhya Pradesh on right to play and disability inclusion; Kartik Verma from Uttar Pradesh on climate action and child rights advocacy; singer Nahid Afrin from Assam on mental health and early childhood development; and Vinisha Umashankar from Tamil Nadu is a budding innovator and STEM pioneer.

         These youth advocates are part of Unicef's global programme and join a cohort of more than 93 youth advocates.
