SBI Sanctions ₹10,050 Crore Loan to Damodar Valley Corporation for Developing 1,600 Megawatt Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant in Koderma.

State Bank of India (SBI) has approved a loan of ₹10,050 crore to the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the development of a 1,600 Megawatt Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant (USCTPP) in Koderma, Jharkhand. This project aims to enhance the region's power generation capacity and improve energy supply reliability. The USCTPP will utilize advanced technology to ensure efficient and eco-friendly electricity production. The collaboration between SBI and DVC underscores the bank's commitment to supporting infrastructure projects that contribute to sustainable energy development and economic growth in the region.

         The project will create numerous job opportunities, boosting the local economy and supporting community development in Koderma.

          By adopting advanced technology, the plant aims to minimize environmental impact while meeting rising energy demands.

However, the JMM-led coalition later decided to hold the oath-taking ceremony on Thursday.

The Central Government on Wednesday notified the appointment of Justice BR Sarangi as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, but his tenure will be for just over two weeks as he is scheduled to retire on July 20. Justice Sarangi's appointment was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in December last year.

Ministry of Coal initiates India’s first ever pilot project for underground coal gasification in Jharkhand.

Eastern Coalfields Limited, under direction of the Ministry of Coal, has embarked on an innovative pilot project for underground coal gasification at the Kasta coal block in Jamtara, Jharkhand. This first ever initiative aims to revolutionise the coal industry by using in-situ coal gasification to convert it into valuable gases such as methane, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide.

         These gases can be utilised to produce synthetic natural gas, chemical feedstocks for fuels, fertilisers, explosives, and other industrial applications.

Shri Kamal Kishore Soan, a senior IAS officer from Jharkhand Cadre (Batch : 1998) currently serving as an Additional Secretary and Director General, Labour Welfare in the Ministry of Labour & Employment, took over the additional charge of Director General of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) under Ministry of Labour & Employment, on 31.05.2024.

         He has got vast experience of governance and management of various departments in the state of Jharkhand viz. Land Revenue Management and District Administration, Agriculture & Cooperation, Health, Building Construction, Transport, Finance, Energy, Water Resources, Social Justice & Empowerment, etc.

The Appointment committee of Cabinet has approved the appointment of Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, former Chief Justice, Jharkhand High Court as President GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) for 4 years.

The Appointment committee of Cabinet has approved the appointment of Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, former Chief Justice, Jharkhand High Court as President GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) for 4 years. The selection was made on the recommendations of a Search-Cum-Selection Committee. This will speed up the process of making the GSTAT functional at earliest. The Centre is planning to make the tribunal functional from 1 July 2024, officials had indicated earlier.

         GSTAT will have one Principal Bench located at Delhi and 31 State benches located at various locations across States.

The Supreme Court has appointed Justice Aniruddha Bose as the Director of The National Judicial Academy (NJA). The Chief Justice, DY Chandrachud announced the decision of appointment during the ceremonial bench conducted honoring the retiring justice. Justice Aniruddha Bose, known for his intellectual brilliance and sartorial elegance, retired from the Supreme Court after a five-year tenure. He enrolled as an advocate in the Calcutta High Court in 1985, becoming a permanent judge in 2004 and the Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice in 2018.

NCDFI has also elected 8 directors on its board unopposed. 8 directors on the Board unopposed which include, Dr Meenesh Shah, Jharkhand Milk Federation; Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Sikkim Milk Union; Shamalbhai B. Patel, Gujarat Milk Federation; Randhir Singh, Haryana Milk Federation; K. S Mani, KeralaMilk Federation; Balachandra L. Jarakiholi, Karnataka Milk Federation; Narinder Singh Shergill, Punjab Milk Federation and Sameer Kumar Parida, West Assam Milk Union. Apart from these elected directors, Shri S. Regupathi, Executive Director, NDDB is the nominated director on the Board of NCDFI. Dr. Meenesh Shah has long been acknowledged for his pivotal role and substantial contributions to the dairy cooperative sector, fostering growth and sustainability over the years.
