RBI cancels licence of Uravakonda Co-Operative Town Bank Ltd., Andhra Pradesh.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has canceled the license of Uravakonda Co-Operative Town Bank Ltd., located in Andhra Pradesh. This decision has been taken due to the bank's failure to comply with regulatory requirements and maintain adequate capital. As a result, the bank will no longer be permitted to carry out banking operations, including accepting deposits and repaying existing ones. Customers of the bank are advised to contact the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) for claims related to their deposits. The cancellation aims to protect the interests of the bank’s depositors.

         The bank's financial position had deteriorated significantly, leading to the cancellation.

          The RBI aims to ensure the stability of the financial sector through such actions.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar’s tenure extended for six months.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India has extended the tenure of Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad for a period of six months from July 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.

         The Chief Secretary’s tenure was extended by the Central government at the request of the State government.

          Prasad was supposed to superannuate on June 30.

SBI General Insurance names Naveen Chandra Jha as new MD & CEO.

SBI General Insurance Company Ltd. has named Shri Naveen Chandra Jha as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. His parent business, State Bank of India, nominated him for the role. He succeeds Shri Kishore Kumar Poludasu. Shri Naveen Chandra Jha has been with the State Bank of India since 1994, holding numerous critical roles during his tenure. Shri Naveen Chandra Jha, Deputy Managing Director, State Bank of India, previously served as Chief General Manager of Amaravati Circle, Andhra Pradesh, before joining SBI General Insurance.

         Shri Naveen Chandra Jha has almost three decades of expertise in the financial industry.

Chandrababu Naidu Sworn-in as 18th CM of Andhra Pradesh and Pawan Kalyan as Deputy CM.

Two days after taking oath as part of the new Andhra Pradesh government, Janasena Party head and superstar Pawan Kalyan has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu naming his son and Mangalagiri MLA Nara Lokesh the Information and Technology Minister. In addition to the Deputy Chief Minister post, Kalyan has also been tasked with the Panchayati Raj, Rural Development & Rural Water Supply portfolio, as well as the Environment, Forest, Science & Technology one.

         Pawan Kalyan, the Pithapuram MLA, is widely credited with stitching the NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena together, which swept up 164 of the 175 Assembly seats in the state and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, in the process routing the incumbent YSRCP government which was led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Neerabh Kumar Prasad takes over as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh.

The General Administration Department (GAD), through G.O. RT No. 1034 issued on June 7 (Friday), appointed Neerabh Kumar Prasad as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh in place of K.S. Jawahar Reddy, who had since been transferred. S. Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Political Wing of the GAD, issued the G.O. to this effect.

         General Administration Department issues G.O. to this effect; the senior most IAS officer in the State cadre, he will be overseeing the swear-in ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12.

Universal Sompo has launched a new theme, “Insure today for a safe tomorrow,” to raise awareness about the importance of insurance in safeguarding against unforeseen risks.Universal Sompo offers a wide range of insurance products, including motor, health, personal accident, fire, and burglary insurance. It is dedicated to ensuring comprehensive protection for individuals, assets, and businesses alike. As part of an initiative called ‘Insurance for All by 2047,’ Universal Sompo collaborated with Maruti Suzuki Insurance Broking to spread insurance awareness in Andhra Pradesh.

         The campaign aims to increase insurance inclusion, educate the public about the benefits of insurance, and issue on-the-spot insurance policies for uninsured vehicles.

          The company issued a policy for a few uninsured vehicles while dwelling on the awareness day.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Senior IPS officer Nalin Prabhat as the Director-General of National Security Guard (NSG).

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Senior IPS officer Nalin Prabhat as the Director-General of National Security Guard (NSG). Prabhat, a 1992 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, is presently working as Additional Director General in CRPF. The ACC has approved his appointment as the Director General, NSG for a period up to 31 August 2028 i.e. the date of his superannuation. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) chief Daljit Singh Chawdhary was holding the additional charge of the NSG.

         The ACC has also approved the appointment of Intelligence Bureau Additional Director Sapna Tewari as the Special Director in the agency.

          Tewari has been appointed for a tenure of two years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or up to the date of her superannuation i.e. 30 April 2026.

A team of archaeologists have discovered a unique Iron Age megalithic site at Ooragutta near Bandala village in SS Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district, Telangana.

A team of archaeologists have discovered a unique Iron Age megalithic site at Ooragutta near Bandala village in SS Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district, Telangana. The site was discovered by a team comprising K.P Rao, history professor of the University of Hyderabad, and Ch Praveen Raju, research scholar from Yogi Vemana University, Andhra Pradesh. The side slabs are arranged with slabs following the shape of the cap-stone. Hence, each ‘dolmenoid cist’ has a unique shape as dictated by the cap-stone. This site has new types of monuments, which have not come to light so far anywhere in other regions of India. Another significant discovery is an Iron Age megalithic site at Ooragutta near Bandala village in SS Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district. Additionally, two new rock art sites have been discovered at Damaratogu in Gundala mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. One of these sites, known as 'Devarlabanda Mula', exclusively depicts animals and no humans, suggesting a cultural significance possibly related to hunting or animal worship.
