PM Modi visited Rajasthan on Dec 9 to inaugurate Rising Rajasthan Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 and the Rajasthan Global Business Expo at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) in Sitapura. The summit, themed 'Replete, Responsible, Ready', will take place from December 9 to 11, 2024. It will feature thematic sessions, country-specific sessions, and exhibitions from various sectors. Prominent business leaders and investors from around the world will attend, making it a significant event for the state's economic growth.


      - The event aims to showcase Rajasthan's economic potential and attract global investments, particularly in renewable energy


      - The event will take place at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC)

      - The theme of the Investment Summit is 'Replete, Responsible, Ready'.

Arjun Vajpai Becomes the First Indian to Summit Mount Shishapangma in China.

In November 2024, Arjun Vajpai, the youngest person to climb Mount (Mt.) Everest, achieved a historic milestone by summiting Mount Shishapangma in China, his eighth peak above 8,000 meters (m).


      - This remarkable feat makes him the 1st Indian to summit Mt. Shishapangma, the fastest to ascend it (a Base Camp to summit and back in under 72 hours), and the first Indian to climb eight 8,000m peaks.


     

     

Main Points:-   (i) Arjun Vajpai began his pursuit of all 14 of the world's 8,000m peaks at age 16 and now he is on track to become the first Indian to complete this extraordinary achievement. He has summited 8 of the 14 tallest mountains on Earth.

      (ii) He was only 30 years old when he set the Guinness World Record for being the youngest person to climb Mt. Everest (2010) and Mt. Lhotse (2011) and also holds the record for the fastest ascent of an 8,000m peak.

(iii) His mountaineering legacy includes summits of Everest (2010), Lhotse (2011), Manaslu (2011), Makalu (2016), Cho Oyu (2016), Kanchenjunga (2018), and Annapurna (2023). Despite setbacks, including a serious injury, Vajpai's resilience continues to inspire India.

19th G20 Summit Concludes in Brazil from 18-19 November 2024.

The 19th Group of 20 (G20) Leaders' Summit for 2024, under the Presidency of Brazil, was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 18th to 19th November 2024.


      - The summit was held under the theme "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet". During the summit, leaders of G20 adopted the "G20 Rio de Janeiro Leaders' Declaration", which aimed to address major global challenges and crises and promote strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth.


      - Brazilian President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva launched the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty during the opening session of the G20 Leaders' Summit.Brazilian President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva handed over the G20 Presidency to Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, as the 19th G20 Leaders' Summit concluded on 19th November 2024.

      - Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the opening session of the G20 Summit on "Social Inclusion and the Fight against Hunger and Poverty".

Main Points:-   (i) PM Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni jointly unveiled the "Italy-India Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29" during their bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the G20 summit. It is a 5-year strategic action plan that includes collaboration in a range of key sectors including defence, trade, energy, and space.

      (ii) The declaration acknowledged the successful New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) outcome at the Conference of Parties (COP29) United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and extended support to the COP30 Presidency scheduled to be held in Belem, Brazil, in 2025.

(iii) The declaration launched the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, endorsed the Rio G20 Ministerial Declaration on International Tax Cooperation for reducing inequalities and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and supported the G20 Roadmap for enhancing the effectiveness of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) in tackling global and regional challenges.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivers speech at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2024 in New Delhi.

On November 16, 2024, Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister (PM) of India, addressed the 22nd Hindustan Times Leadership Summit (HTLS 2024) in New Delhi, Delhi. The summit was held from November 14 to 16, 2024.


      - During the event, PM Modi released a commemorative postage stamp of denomination Rs 5 to celebrate 100 years of Hindustan Times (HT), which was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1924.


      - The PM articulated a roadmap focusing on "Development with Dignity," aiming to ensure that progress benefits all citizens.

      - He outlined his vision for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.

Main Points:-   (i) The HTLS was launched in 2003 to enhance the level of discourse on critical issues and encourage interaction among leaders in important areas.

      (ii) The HTLS serves as a platform for leaders across various sectors to engage in meaningful discussions. It was launched in 2003.

(iii) Renowned artist Sankha Samanta designed a commemorative postage stamp encapsulating Hindustan Times' (HT) centenary journey from 1924 to 2024. The design prominently features HT's tagline, "First Voice, Last Word," symbolizing its unwavering commitment to truth and simplicity over the decades.
